The itinerary for the diocesan pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Seoul has now been decided. We will begin with a six-day pilgrimage through South Korea, exploring the remarkable history of the Korean Church and its martyrs, while also experiencing Korean culture. The purpose of this time is to prepare our hearts for World Youth Day itself. We will then participate in the six days of World Youth Day in Seoul, culminating in the Vigil and Mass with Pope Leo. Following World Youth Day, we will travel to Nagasaki for a retreat. This time will help pilgrims reflect on what the Lord has done in their hearts, the commitments they wish to make, and the story they will share when they return home.
The indicative cost of the pilgrimage is $9,000. The diocese will contribute one-third of this amount, and parishes will help pilgrims raise a further third, leaving pilgrims to contribute approximately $3,000 themselves. I hope to take 30–35 young adults, aged 18–35, from our diocese.
